Leather Items: Cleaning and Maintenance
Description
The main aim of the course is to provide customer satisfaction. Indeed, as time goes by, there should be no (or very little) change in the consumer's sense of pleasure that generally follows the purchase of a leather item.
So what precautions should be taken and maintenance rules followed in order to keep the item in good condition for as long as possible?
To answer this question, after an overview of the different types of "dirt" and the effects these can have on various types of leather, in the first part of the course the problems typically associated with the use of footwear and leather goods are examines, providing useful advice for the consumer to perform proper maintenance.
In the second part leatherwear is addressed. Following a brief discussion of the cleaning methods (drycleaning, washing in water, mechanical treatments), the inevitable "snags" arising from the cleaning process will be analysed. Finally, consumer and clothing manufacturer warnings that can help to keep such snags to a minimum will be discussed.
